Through complex products and solutions, SOGECLAIR EQUIPMENT takes on the challenge of weight reduction thanks to thermoplastic composite materials that enable lighter parts, and invests in numerous Research & Development (R&D) projects for the recycling and recovery of its production waste.
In addition, through innovative processes (stamping, waterjet cutting, induction welding, etc.) resulting from around ten years of R&D investment, the company is significantly accelerating its manufacturing process to meet high production rates.
SOGECLAIR EQUIPMENT INNOVATES WITH A NEW GENERATION OF THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE ACCESS PANEL
As a partner in the ECHOS 2 project (2021–2024) led by Airbus Atlantic and funded by the DGAC and the European Union as part of the NextGeneration EU and France Relance plans, SOGECLAIR EQUIPMENT designs and manufactures a full-scale (1:1) demonstrator (0.8 x 0.6 x 0.23 m) of an optimised thermoplastic composite pilot access panel.
The objectives? Reduce the environmental impact of the panel by decreasing its weight by 30% compared to the current solution, as well as shortening the production cycle, while meeting future increases in aerospace production rates and facilitating the recycling of the part thanks to the unique thermoplastic resin used in its structure.
Together with Airbus Atlantic, which provided the part specifications, SOGECLAIR EQUIPMENT also collaborated with COGIT for overmoulding and 3D printing of thermoplastic composites.
With this ECHOS 2 project and the complementary expertise of its teams (engineering, processes and manufacturing, eco-design, etc.), SOGECLAIR EQUIPMENT confirms its ability to innovate and deliver ever more advanced technological solutions to its customers’ challenges.
